Honey-Buzzards
One of the nests became occupied and we were able to film the early breeding stages of a pair of honey-buzzards for 3 weeks. This pair didn’t settle to breed on the nest but we were able to record some amazing behaviour. You can watch the story on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/lQcB_rInoR8
In 2025 Wildlife Windows were asked by Sussex Ornithological Society and the Conservators of Ashdown Forest if we could set up a camera system for a honey-buzzard nest. The aim was to deliver the first ever UK live honey-buzzard nest camera and record the whole process for science and education. Under license we set up cameras at two nests well before the breeding season and kept our fingers crossed. Both systems, in remote woodland locations, were completely off-grid and transmission was via 4G.
