Equipment and Housings

The two enemies of wildlife camera installations are:
1. Water (ingress) and
2. Cable damage (potentially rodents).

To guard against these all our equipment is thoroughly protected from the elements in IP67 enclosures. All external cables are SWA (Steel Wire Armoured) which can be direct buried or submerged.

Equipment
Technology has improved a great deal since the early analogue days of Wildlife Windows, the digital world is upon us. All our camera systems are now HD IP network systems. These cameras are powerful and offer a wide variety of functionality including local and remote recording, motion triggered recording and live streaming to the internet software.

Cameras need two things: 1. Power and 2. Data (video) transmission. Power is preferably derived via cabled systems but where local power is not available, we can provide off-grid solar/battery systems.

Technologies/skills:

  • Fibre optic cable installation (we do our own termination)

  • Long range cabled data/power transmission

  • Wireless bridges

  • Solar/battery off-grid systems

  • 4G connectivity

  • Remote access systems

Housings

Wildlife Windows have long history of building/constructing housings for wildlife cameras. With extensive skills in woodwork, metal work and construction we have been able to turn our hands to most projects requested.

Examples include:

  • Osprey nests in trees and on poles

  • Osprey translocation pens

  • Nest boxes for a very long list of bird species

  • Swift tower on telegraph pole

  • House martin nesting structure on telegraph pole

  • Brick built barn owl tower

  • Tern rafts

  • Otter holts

  • Badger setts

  • Observation platforms

  • Bird feeder tables
