Mammals
We have built artificial badger setts at 7 sites across the UK, most of which have had cameras incorporated in them. Notably we designed and built the famous badger sett for Kate MacRae (Wildlife Kate) at Yew View in Worcester. Featured on Springwatch this badger sett became the first (and only ever) to film and record badgers birthing in.
Cameras on red squirrel feeders have delighted viewers at RSPB Loch Leven and RSPB Loch Garten.
WW has designed and installed cameras and housings for a wide variety of mammals.
Examples include, otter, badger, beaver, red squirrel, greater and lesser horseshoe bats, brown long-eared bat, common and Atlantic grey seals.
We have set up remote, off-grid camera systems to watch common seals at RSPB Saltholme and Atlantic grey seals at National Trust Blakeney Point. Both of these systems have been off-grid solar/battery powered.
Camera systems for monitoring bats in their roosts is a sensitive process as it is vital none of the electronic equipment is emitting any negative ultra sound. We test all equipment prior to installation with the best bat detectors.
