Peregrines
All except one of the sites have been on buildings so power supplies have been readily available but cable runs have been complex in and on some of the listed buildings.
Most peregrine cameras requested are for live streaming to a website and/or YouTube Live. Broadband connectivity is needed for this and is often available as a terrestrial line on site but we can also provide 4G connectivity for this purpose.
Jason Fathers (WW) is a raptor expert, BTO ringer and active in monitoring a number of peregrine nests in the south of England.
The first peregrine nest camera we installed was at St. Michael’s Church in Exeter (2013) which is famous for being the first known building peregrines nested on following their population recovery. The Exeter system was ‘old school’ standard resolution analogue. Technology has moved on since then.
To date, we have set up cameras at 13 sites across the UK. All of them are now digital HD and most are live streaming to the internet. Notable sites include Battersea Power Station (during the construction developments), Sheffield University (featured on Springwatch) and Ealing Hospital for Ealing Wildlife Group (featured on BBC’s ‘Strictly Birds of Prey’)
